A South Canton Scholars Charter Academy teacher is the first
recipient of Grand Valley State University’s Teacher of the Year award. On
Monday, May 18, first-grade teacher Megan Dziedzic learned she won the award
during a surprise ceremony.
“I was very surprised, excited, and honored to be chosen,”

of its schools. Principals, deans, and teachers were asked to write a detailed
description of each nominee and how they are making a difference in the

difficulty understanding a concept is to first build a relationship with them,”
Dziedzic said. “I take time to become familiar with their interests and
incorporate this knowledge to make my lessons more engaging and purposeful.”
Megan started her career at South Canton Scholars four years
ago and loves the devoted community of staff members, families, and students.
“Throughout the past four years, I have established
relationship that have enriched my skills as a teacher and my passion for
learning,” Dziedzic said.
