Ridge Park Students Encourage Hurricane Victims

A third-grade class at Ridge Park Charter Academy is practicing their Moral Focus virtues by comforting those who are hurting in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

“Each day we share good news in our class and the students also bring up unfortunate events like the storms, hurricanes, and destructive weather that has affected so many people,” said Becca Wright, third-grade teacher. “So the students thought it would be a great idea to encourage the victims of these devastating events.”

Each student created a card with pictures and a short note for a hurricane survivor. The Ridge Park students hope that their cards will bring smiles and a little comfort to the people who get them. Mrs. Wright plans to put a card in each survival kit being sent down to the hurricane survivors by a local non-profit.

“We just want to be a little light in a dark time,” said Wright.

One student expressed why the project is important: “I just want to make them smile because they lost so much and are sad.”
