MT. CLEMENS, Mich., August 8, 2014—Colleen
Furman will serve as the new principal of Prevail Academy for the 2014-2015
will replace Nicole Young, who served as principal of Prevail for four years.
In April, Young announced she had accepted a principal position at Reach
Charter Academy in Roseville, Mich.
has served at the school for eight years as a middle school teacher, middle
school dean, and most recently the dean of intervention. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary
education from Oakland University and a master’s degree in educational
leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.

passionate about our mission to ensure each one of our scholars is on the
college bound path.”
Prevail Academy the average student grew more than 133 percent of the national
average and had overall scores above the national average for each of the last
new position began on June 30. There will be several opportunities throughout
the summer for families to talk with Furman about the year ahead including the
school’s back to school bash on August 22.
Academy is a free public charter school serving students in grades kindergarten
through eighth grade.
