Mary Patillo-Dunn, Principal

Education

  • Michigan State University: MA in K-12 Literacy

  • 2nd grade teacher 3 years
  • Academic Interventionist 2 years
  • Int’l Program Coordinator for Medical Students at Univ. of Michigan Medical School – 2 Years
 

What do you like most about working here?

I love the support that not only NHA offers, but the support the staff members give to each other; it is a real team effort here!
 

Personal 

Married to a Saginaw native who is a minister and musician; I have 2 children ages 7 and 4; My hobbies are playing the piano and speaking Spanish – I love the language! I also hope to write children’s books one day soon…
 
 
 

Julie Binder, Dean of Intervention

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I was hired at North Saginaw right out of college.  NHA is the only school that I have worked.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I love the family atmosphere and all the hugs that I receive from the students.  I like that our school thinks of students first and how we can best meet the needs of all students.
 

Personal 

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years.  We have 4 children, 2 of them attend North Saginaw.  I also have a Yorkie Pooh, named Lucy.  In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking and gardening.  I love watching sports on TV or attending games with my husband. GO LIONS and TIGERS
 
 
 

Tania Baston, Dean of Middle School​

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught middle school math and science for 8 years.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I love the fact that NHA program focuses on the whole child. Not only do we teach the core subjects, but we include moral focus and the arts. 
 

Personal

I love my family.  I have 3 sons ages 20, 9, and 2.  I love to sing and play board and card games with family and friends.  I am a woman of faith who seeks to see the GOOD in everyone.
 

 

Kimberly Deering, Dean of Upper Elementary

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught 4 years in Chicago in an at-risk bi-lingual early childhood classroom.  I then moved to Indiana and taught K-2 self contained moderate/severe for 9 years.  In 2014, I moved to Saginaw and became one of the K-5 resource teachers. By February 2015 I was able to move up to the Dean position over special education, 3-5 and have been in that position since.
 

What do you like most about working here?

The best part of working at NSCA has to be the families and staff that I get to interact with every day.  We have a staff who are 100% dedicated to our student growth and families who are supportive and trust in us that we as a staff will grow their student!  It is an amazing community to be a part of!
   

Personal

Born and raised in Chicago.  Married for 1 year.  I have a dog, Sammie, who is the best dog ever!  I love to camp, kayak, travel, read, and spend time with my family and friends.
