Metro Students Dig Deep

Seventh-grade World History students at Metro Charter Academy enjoyed digging into a lesson where they learned about how to study the past.

The students dug through sand to uncover a doll, a ceramic cat, an old clock radio and a picture frame. They excavated the site with Q-tips and toothbrushes.

During the lesson, the students pretended some construction workers had stumbled on some artifacts. Their job was to find, preserve, and study the artifacts.

"We had a great day being archaeologists," said Rachael Schnurr, a social studies teacher at Metro Charter.
