MATTHEWS, N.C. Feb. 12, 2016— Christy Morrin has been named founding
principal of Matthews Charter Academy, a free public charter school scheduled
to open August 2016 in Matthews. In partnership with a local Board of
directors, the school is managed by National Heritage Academies (NHA), which
operates eight public charter schools in North Carolina.

Matthews Charter Academy is a free public charter school that will serve students in grades
kindergarten through sixth for the 2016-2017 school year. The school will add
one grade level per year, until a full K-8 school is established.
