Second-Grade Students at Hamtramck Charter Academy Learn Hands-On Lesson with Pancakes

Second-grade students at Hamtramck Academy learned to write a "How To" paper in December with a hands on activity.

The students read the book "Pancake, Pancake" by Eric Carl to learn how to make pancakes. Several students participated in making pancake batter, tasted the pancakes, and then wrote the steps to explain how to make pancakes. Throughout the exercise the students realized how important details and measurements are when writing.

At the conclusion of the unit, the class enjoyed a pancake breakfast together!
