Doug Hower, Principal

Previous Experience

I have worked for National Heritage Academies for nearly 15 years.  I have had the privilege to serve as a school social worker, assistant principal, and am honored to serve as the principal at Greensboro Academy. 
 

What do you like most about working here?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year's serving as the principal at Greensboro Academy and feel that our school community allows our students to achieve their very best.  I am humbled to work alongside a dedicated staff and committed parents for the betterment of each student.
 

Personal Information

I have a wonderful wife, Kelly, and two step-children, Kaylee and Kevin.  We have enjoyed being able to experience the natural beauty that North Carolina has to offer.
 
 
 
 
 

Becky Schramm, K - 2 Dean

Education

Lenoir Rhyne College: Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Birth through Kindergarten Foundations
Western Carolina University: Master of School Administration
 

Previous Experience

I taught in Nassau, Bahamas for 2 years after graduating with my BA.  While in the Bahamas, I taught pre-kindergarten and kindergarten.  In 2000, I moved to Greensboro, NC, and began teaching 2nd grade at Greensboro Academy.  I taught 2nd grade for 12 years and moved to 3rd grade prior to my role as the K-2 Dean.
 

What do you like most about working here?

Fourteen years at Greensboro Academy has allowed me to create special relationships with staff, families, and students. The staff at Greensboro Academy has inspired me to become a better educator and leader.
 

Personal Information

I have been married to Terry for 11 years and we have a daughter named Sadie.  Sadie is a student at Greensboro Academy.  Terry, Sadie, and I love to travel, camp, and spend time outdoors.
 
 
 
 
 

Tara Chandler, 3 - 5 Dean

Education

  • Westminster College: BA in Elementary Education

Previous Experience

I taught in Eden, North Carolina for 5 years prior to working at Greensboro Academy.  I am proud to say that this year will be my 11th year at Greensboro Academy!   I have been a 5th grade instructor, instructional coach, and am currently serving as the dean of 3rd-5th grades. 
 

What do you like most about working here?

It is hard to choose just one thing!  I absolutely love my colleagues and their passion for what they do. They are by far the best educators I have met.  I love the family atmosphere amongst all who are a part of the school.  Finally, I love that everyone is invested in the growth and development of our children every day.
 

Personal Information

I am originally from a small town in Pennsylvania called Oil City.  I have a wonderful and supportive family who has made me who I am today.  I moved to NC after college graduation and never left!  I have a wonderful husband named Jeff, 2 beautiful twin daughters named Sophia and Evelyn, and a son named Andrew.  We love to read, camp, and just enjoy each other’s company.
 
 
 
 
 

Tracey Duhaime, 6 - 8 Dean

Education

  • Eastern Connecticut State University:  Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology 
  • Sacred Heart University:  Master of Education 
 

Previous Experience

I taught in Guilford County for 8 years as a 6th grade math teacher prior to joining Greensboro Academy 6 years ago.  I taught 6th grade math for 5 years before becoming the Middle School Dean last year.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I absolutely love working with this age group of students. I am so blessed to be both a parent and administrator at Greensboro Academy; I wouldn’t want it any other way!
 

Personal Information

I am originally from Canterbury, Connecticut and moved to Greensboro 18 years ago.  I met my husband Kevin in Greensboro and we are the proud parents of two amazing children.  Both Payton (8th grader) and Parker (4th grader) attend Greensboro Academy.
