What do you love about working here?

What I love about Great Oaks Academy is the infectious comradery and teamwork displayed by the staff.  The intentional focus on student achievement is palpable, and everyone works hard every day.  Furthermore, the students are kind, caring, and respectful.  The formula of great staff and great students is a recipe for success!

Personal:

I love spending time with my family.  I have a beautiful wife and a beautiful 10 year old daughter.  I enjoy working out, reading, grilling and eating (I enjoy eating so much that I must work out). I love to travel and my goal is to go to every continent.  I am a Christian and I am proud to represent the Lord.

  • Bachelor of Arts, Major: English, Minor: Speech-Wayne State University

Experience:

I have been in the field of education for 13 years.  Within the 13 years, I have taught 5th and 6th grade self contained classes and 7th and 8th grade English classes, as well as hold the Dean of Middle School position, here at Great Oaks Academy.

What do you love about working here?

The thing I love most about working at Great Oaks Academy is the sense of urgency the teachers have in making sure our students learn all that they can in such a short period of time.  There is so much for our students to learn, but so little time to teach it all.  Every second matters and our teachers make each one of those seconds count.

Personal:

I am the very proud mother of two beautiful sons; Chase Amare Johnson, who is in Heaven and Amare Chase Johnson, who also attends Great Oaks Academy.  I enjoy spending every chance I get pouring into my son and preparing him to be the best he can be.  When I am not pouring into my son, I am sleep, as being a mother is a job that requires every waken moment of your time

What do you love about working here?

I love working at Great Oaks Academy because all staff members are committed to student achievement. The staff has a "whatever it takes" mentality when it comes to academic success. Our students are the heart of Great Oaks Academy and every decision that is made is done to prepare them for success.

What do you love about working here?

What excites me the most about joining the Great Oaks Academy team is that I have heard wonderful things about the staff of Great Oaks Academy and I am excited to be a part of the mission and vision of educating more students and helping them reach college readiness.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work as a team to challenge each student to achieve their personal best!
