Jerry Martinez, Principal
Why did you choose education as a profession?
“I chose to work in the education field because of the importance of and the passion I have for this work. I believe whole heartedly in education and its role in being the great equalizer in our society. I am a product of what can be possible when given the educational opportunities that all students deserve. It is the students, their stories, their dreams, and the reminder of my own childhood that contribute to my commitment to education.”
What is your favorite moral focus virtue?
“It is a tough choice, but I would say perseverance. It is my favorite because it's a virtue that got me to where I am today. Life sends us through interesting experiences which I believe are for a reason. I stayed focused on my goals the dreams that I set for myself at the young age of 18.”
What motivates you every day?
“Getting to work with students and teachers. It’s just so refreshing and exciting to meet and get to know our students. I love being a part of their learning, both academically and socially, it’s motivating to see students being challenged through their academics and overcoming obstacles and finding a true love and appreciation for learning.”
What is the one thing you wish for every child?
“I wish that every child, no matter their background, no matter their skin color, no matter their socio-economic status, they are given the education and life opportunities and resources needed (which are also deserved) for them to achieve their dreams.”
