Cougars Care Welcomes Military Home

Members of the Cross Creek Charter Academy Cougars Care group met at the Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids on Nov. 22, the first day of their Thanksgiving break.

From 1-3 p.m., the 20 students welcomed home active military members and veterans at the airport with handshakes and signs made out of posters. The event is part of a nationwide project called “Operation Handshake.”

The Cougars Care group is comprised of middle school students. They select a monthly service project throughout the year based on the moral focus curriculum.

For the month of November, the group decided to focus on gratitude and put it into action by participating in Operation Handshake.

Great job, students!
