On Thursday, July 30, Center Line Preparatory Academy had their first Drive Through Registration Paperwork event. Parents came to the event to complete the registration process.
Families and staff abided by social distancing guidelines to ensure the event was safe for parents, students, and staff.
Families had the opportunity to meet Roz Burt, founding principal at Center Line, deans, the office staff, and Afaf Saleh, admissions representative for Center Line. “After weeks of communicating digitally with families, it was exciting to finally meet,” said Saleh.
As Center Line prepares to kick off their first school year, Burt is focusing on creating a welcoming school culture and climate. “I’m most looking forward to building a culture of safety and excellence amongst the staff and students, building relationships with staff, the community, parents, and students, and growing, motivating, and empowering students and staff,” said Burt.
At the event, parents received drawstring bags, hand sanitizers, a water bottle, and lots of goodies. All items sported the Center Line logo in an effort to represent the new community school that will be open in the fall of 2020.
As families exited from the parking lot, they were able to make a pit stop at an ice cream truck where parents were able to indulge in a frozen treat of their choice.
Roughly 40 vehicles came through to the event in an effort to connect with school leaders and staff, ask questions, and complete the registration process to start school at Center Line in the fall. “It is always nice to communicate with families in all types of forms, but to finally meet in person is amazing,” said Saleh. “It is important to have that face-to-face interaction with parents, and to finally put a name with a face.”
For the Center Line team, this event was just the start of building a relationship with parents and getting to meet families. Looking toward the beginning of the school year, Saleh is eager to give families tours of the remodeled building. “As the admissions representative, my top priority is helping parents make that change and trusting us with their child’s education,” she said. “The best feeling is when parents finally find what they have been searching for in a school and make that change. At this point, the search ends and they are confident in placing their child in our hands.”
While Center Line has been operating at a temporary office, they are making great progress on construction. Burt shared that joy comes to her heart each time she pulls up to the parking lot of the temporary office. “Going into the building when approved to do so, reminds me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.
Center Line staff and leaders are looking forward to their first school year this fall!
