Education

  • Eastern Michigan University: Bachelor of Arts
  • Eastern Michigan University: Master of Arts

Previous experience

I have 17 years of education experience altogether. I served as a classroom teacher for 7 years, and then transitioned into a role as an Instructional Coach. I have worked in a Dean position for the past 4 years, 3 at South Arbor Academy and 1 at Achieve Academy.

What will you like most about working here?

Achieve Charter Academy is an amazing place to work. I truly enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of our students throughout the day. The staff and families are dedicated to creating an environment where our students come first and decisions are made in the best interest of our students. I am privileged to come to work each day with the excitement, energy and commitment that is evident here at Achieve.

Personal

I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I live in Livonia with our two children, Griffin and Grace. We spend our time cheering on our kids in their activities in and out of school. You can find us watching our daughter cheerlead at football games in Livonia or watching our son play hockey at the ice arena. We also love to be outside or to just spend time together in our backyard. I also enjoy reading and running in my spare time.

Previous experience

The past two years at Achieve I taught fifth grade ELA and math.  Prior to attending Achieve, I taught first through fifth grade at Academy of Detroit West in Redford, Mi from 2001-2012.  At the Academy of Detroit I also served as the Lead Teacher and Writing/Math Specialist.

What do you like most about working here?

The kids, staff and community are the top three reasons why I like working at Achieve.  There is a common understanding of the importance of education and support with all three stakeholders. Before I took on my role as a teacher at Achieve, I was a parent and knew just how supportive the whole team was with my son Brady.  I wanted to work for a school like that, and here I am today.

Personal

I have been married for 12 years and have 3 kids. My older two boys attend Achieve and their younger sister will join her siblings next year.  I love to shop and take walks to relax. I also have one pet, a dog, Lucky.
