Achieve Charter Academy was one of two National Heritage Academies-managed schools to be recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018.
U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos announced the 349 National Blue Riboon School recipients in 47 states this year. In Michigan only 13 schools were awarded this honor. Achieve Charter Academy and Canton Charter Academy were both recognized.
"Our Achieve staff and students are incredibly proud to be receiving this award and feel honored to have received this award,” said Jen Conley, principal at Achieve Charter Academy. “Our staff and students continue to focus on growth and learning while maintaining a strong school community. We are appreciative of this recognition!”
Schools are honored in one of two performance categories: Exemplary High Performing Schools or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools. Achieve was selected as an Exemplary High Performing School based on its student scores, subgroup student scores and graduation rates.
Principal Conley will travel to Washington D.C. on Nov. 7 to celebrate with the Secretary and the Department of Education.
“I'm pleased to celebrate with you as your school is named a National Blue Ribbon School,” said U.S. Secretary of Education DeVos in a video message to the honorees. “We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives. Congratulations on your students' accomplishments and for your extraordinary commitment to meeting their unique needs.”
