Throughout November and December, students at Winterfield Venture Academy raised money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Ohio through the annual “Pennies for Patients” fundraiser.
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) selected this cause for their service project and lead the school-wide effort by encouraging classes to collect spare change to be donated to cancer research.
As an added incentive for collecting, a dress down day and a Polar Express movie day were up for grabs to the class that collected the most money. The NJHS passed out popcorn and drinks during the movie day to the K-2 classes.
During the fundraiser, kindergarten- through second-grade raised $224.40, third- through fifth-grade raised $157.41, and middle school raised $106.73 for a grand total of $488.54.
Great job, scholars!
