FedEx Employees Volunteer at Warrendale

About 40 FedEx employees spent a portion of their day volunteering at Warrendale Charter Academy for a “Day of Care."

From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers worked on projects in the gymnasium and in the basement of the school. They were able to help organize items, add shelving in various locations, dispose of old equipment, decorate bathrooms with themes, and clean the school gym and stage.

They also picked up trash on the playground, cut back overgrown shrubs and trees, and painted outdoor benches.

In addition, the volunteers cleaned bleachers in the gym and installed shelving to organize the school store, music room, and gym supplies.

Last year, FedEx selected Warrendale for their “Day of Care” and completed several outdoor projects. This year, their focus was indoors.

"Everyone was excited about the new changes FedEx made with the beautification of our school and playground,” said Simone Cruzet-McCullum, a social worker at Warrendale.

The students and staff thanked the volunteers during a morning assembly and greeted the FedEx volunteers in the hallways throughout the morning with cheers.
