Walker Choir Sings National Anthem

Twice a year, the Walker Charter Academy choir performs the National Anthem before thousands of people – in the fall at the Griffins hockey game and in the Spring at the Whitecaps baseball game.

On Friday, Oct. 19 the Walker choir performed before the Griffins hockey game in Grand Rapids.

“This has been a Walker tradition for years...well before my time here,” said Steve Wideman, K-8 music teacher at Walker. “This was my sixth outing to the Griffins with our students.”

The Walker Parent Teacher Organization supports the choir each year by providing free tickets to the games for all family members of the choir.

“It's absolutely a highlight of their school year,” said Wideman. “They look forward to it for months and they had the time of their lives at the Griffins game last week!”
