Vanguard 500 Gets Students Racing

In the back parking lot at Vanguard Charter Academy, the sound of rumbling engines could be heard.

The noises came from dozens of remote-controlled cars racing across the parking lot, while other students cheered them on.

Each year, John Fischer, the school social worker, holds the "Vanguard 500" where his students participate in car races as part of the end of the year party.

Students look forward to the races each year. At the end of the race, trophies were presented to all the student participants for their racing success.
