Prevail Academy Staff Give Back

Prevail Academy's teachers and leadership did some heavy lifting before returning to the classroom this school year.

“Heavy lifting” isn’t an exaggeration. As part of this year’s back-to-school professional development and team building exercise, Prevail staff packaged and prepared more than six tons of vegetables for Gleaners, a local charity.

Prevail staff and leadership happily volunteered their time to Gleaners, because this organization is near and dear to the heart of Prevail. Gleaners had worked with the Prevail Charter community this year, so it felt natural to give back.

Prevail staff helped Gleaners package potatoes and cabbage and then fulfill and confirm actual orders. In that process, Prevail staff handled about 13,000 pounds of product, which will impact the lives of over 14,000 people in the community.

A second-grade teacher said, “Once our volunteer time was complete and the number of people we impacted was shared, my heart was full. Loved it!”
