North Dayton Partners with Boonshoft Museum of Discovery for Zoo Program

North Dayton School of Discovery and Emerson Academy recently partnered with Boonshoft Museum of Discovery for Zoo on the Move... Animals Alive, an interactive, hands-on program that provides students the opportunity to get up close and personal with animals.

During the program, Kinder Camp students from both schools learned about the behaviors and habitats of a variety of Boonshoft’s animals, including cute, cuddly, creepy, and crawly creatures. The program is conservation-based and explains how important each creature is to the environment.

“Kinder Camps are a wonderful opportunity for new kindergarten scholars to get ready and comfortable for the first day of school in August,” said Jim Pierce, admissions representative at Emerson and North Dayton. “The chance to meet their teachers, learn about their school, meet their classmates, and have fun with things like Boonshoft’s Animals Alive Show is a fantastic and completely free event.”

Kindergarten is a vital time for early learners who are eager to learn new experiences and begin exploring new subject matter. This is also a crucial time for early learners to explore hands-on opportunities and develop problem-solving skills that will assist them throughout their academic career.

The programs each featured a 45-minute in-school presentation including an introduction, a hands-on portion, and time for Q&A with the zookeepers.
