Lansing Charter Academy Hosts Annual Science Night

NHA Communications Team  |  May 03, 2019

Lansing Charter Academy recently held its annual Science Experiment Night for students and families to provide a fun and interactive opportunity for students to develop a passion for science.

The event featured an exciting variety of hands-on activities for the students including pig and frog dissections, owl pellet dissection, a crime scene investigation with the Lansing Police’s K9 Unit, and the opportunity to interact with a variety of animals.

“This event is a great opportunity for students and parents to learn fun activities that connect to our science standards,” said Cassandra Trawitz, dean of intervention at Lansing Charter. “It’s also an opportunity for families to have a fun evening learning together.”

Nearly 100 families came out to enjoy the event, totaling to around 300 people. Over 15 local organizations attended and set up booths and activities, including:

  • Potter Park Zoo
  • Nature Discovery Animals
  • Lansing Police Narcotics K-9 Unit
  • iTEC Robotics
  • Digital Planetarium
  • Magic Mirror
  • Michigan Science Center
  • Geodes and The Rock Guy
  • Rover the Robot

Students enjoyed interacting with the animals, including snakes, turtles, and the K9 unit from the Lansing Police Department. The scholars also got an inside look at rocks and crystals from Geodes and The Rock Guy.
