Local Police Donate Supplies

Johnston Charter Academy (JCA) received a visit from the Johnston Police Department the day before the school opened for the first time.

A handful of police officers from the Clayton area came to a staff meeting Aug. 23 to announce JCA was selected to receive donated school supplies.

The department had collected supplies the previous Saturday in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Clayton called “Pack a Police Car” full of school supplies. The community bought the supplies at the store and filled the police vehicles with them.

Several local schools received the donated goods.

Police officers delivered five large boxes of supplies to JCA, they included: pencils, crayons, lined refill paper, glue sticks, etc.

“JCA has proactively partnered with the Clayton PD and met with the Chief of Police to discuss school safety,” said Dr. Kerry Chisnall, principal of JCA. “We are grateful for their donation and the relationship we have built before the school has even opened.”
