Fortis Teachers Use Fidget Spinners

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! Two teachers at National Heritage Academies schools got creative with the most popular toy students are bringing to class this year – fidget spinners.

Christen Neal, a third grade teacher at Fortis Academy, engaged her students in math class with fidget spinners!  The students spun and then completed as many math problems as possible before the spinner stopped. The students completed this activity several times and then averaged their scores.

“They loved the activity and got lots of math done,” said Erin Dixon, upper elementary dean at Fortis Academy.
Teri Lane, a kindergarten teacher at Forsyth Charter Academy, kept her kindergarten students learning while having fun with the spinners during a long morning of testing.

Great job, teachers!
