GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 24, 2021 — On June 1, 2021, National Heritage Academies (NHA), a Michigan-based public charter school network, will welcome Eric Spangler as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer.

In this role, Spangler will lead NHA’s efforts to fully integrate technology that engages learners and improves student achievement.

"I am excited to join the amazing team members of NHA and proud to serve its thousands of students, parents, and teachers,” said Spangler. “Now more than ever, technology can facilitate learning in the traditional classroom and is paramount in doing so remotely and through blended learning. I look forward to helping lead an organization dedicated to uplifting the lives of students through education.”

For more than 25 years, Spangler has held roles that served student technology needs. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Global Infrastructure Operations at ProQuest, an educational technology company that powers research in academic, corporate, government, public, and school libraries around the world with unique content and software solutions, including rich academic databases, and technologies that connect people with vast information.

“I am eager to see what the future holds as Eric joins the team,” said Brian Britton, Chief Executive Officer at NHA. “He is a great fit to the organization, and his experience and passion for what we do will allow us to open new doors in the technology arena that impact our students and families in a big way. I look forward to the difference we will make together and the amazing things it will do for our students.”

Spangler holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, both from the University of Maryland.
