Amy Ebling, Principal

 

Education:

Secondary Education-Bowling Green State University
Graduate studies at the University of Findlay and Eastern Michigan University
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

13 years in education
 

What do you like most about working here?

The commitment to excellence and student achievement. All of our stakeholders are dedicated to providing the best education possible to our students. We are truly a family.
 

Personal Information:

Married for 9 years to my husband, Chad. We have 2 children (Brady-5 and Ava-2). We love to travel as a family. We also stay busy with our church, and our children’s activities.
 
 

Amy Tansel, At Risk Coordinator/Leadership Team Member

 

Education:

I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I earned a post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education with a major in Science from Oakland University. My master’s degree is in Educational Leadership and Administration from University of Cincinnati.
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught in the classroom for a little over 6 years. Most of my classroom experience was in 5th grade, but I also taught 6th and 7th grade various subjects, and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math. I have been the At-Risk teacher at Walton for 3.5 years, working with all grade levels, with a concentration on Math.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I love the emphasis on relationship building. I feel a close connection with students, even though I am not a classroom teacher. The staff shares a common vision and works as a team to reach their goals. The environment of the school is so family oriented.
 

Other work experience:

Before becoming a teacher, I worked at the Boys and Girls Club in Orion/Oxford.
 

Personal Information:

I have been married for 8.5 years. We have four wonderful children; Maile age 6, Quinn age 4, Noelle age 3, and Thalen age 1. Maile attends school at Walton and is in the first grade. Quinn will enter kindergarten next year here at Walton. We live in Waterford. I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my family.
 

 

Bill Turkington, 3-5 Dean

 

Education:

I graduated from the University of Detroit with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1976. I also hold a Master of Education Degree from Oakland University in the areas of Curriculum, Instruction and Leadership. I graduated in the year 2000.
 

Previous education experience:

I previously taught 4th grade at Birmingham Detroit Country Day School for three years. I have taught 3rd and 5th grade students in two charter schools in Detroit. Prior to coming to NHA, I was an Assistant Principal in a K-5 Charter School in Detroit, and a 6-12 Charter School in Dearborn Heights.
 

What do you like most about working here?

Walton has worked very hard to create a positive, nurturing, and challenging academic environment for the children we serve each day. I appreciate the effort, enthusiasm, and dedication that teachers and support staff have demonstrated to ensure that meaningful learning takes place each and every day. I truly look forward to going to work each and every day.
 

Other work experience:

I coached the High School Girl’s Varsity Basketball teams at Detroit Country Day and the Academy for Business and Technology. I was also the Varsity Baseball coach at Detroit Country Day during my three year tenure. This year is my sixth year as Walton’s Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer team.
 

Personal Information:

 I will be celebrating my 30th wedding anniversary with my wife, Debra, this August. We have two daughters named Lindsey (27) and Lauren (20). Lindsey lives and works in Florida. Lauren is attending college on a soccer and academic scholarship at Tiffin University in Ohio. She will graduate in 2012.
 

 

Laura Hall, Dean of Special Ed./Instructional Coach

 

Education:

Currently enrolled at Eastern Michigan for the Administration Certificate
Master’s Degree from Walden University in Reading Literacy
Bachelor’s Degree from Oakland University in Elementary Ed. with a major in ELA
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I began my educational career with NHA in August 1999.
 

What do you like most about working here?

What I like most about working for NHA is the foundation of the 4 pillars this company has. The support between the service center and schools is a vital piece to ensure student achievement happens. My last thought is, no matter how the day goes, NHA/Walton is a happy place.
 

Other work experience we might want to mention:

Worked for Stanley Door Systems for 10 years as a traffic coordinator in shipping entry and garage doors all over the nation and world.
 

Personal Information:

Married to Jeff Hall and we have two daughters, Krystin and Alyssa. We have 2 dogs, Charlie and Luci. I love to read and travel by car to see the history of our country.
 
 

Mona L. Boersma, K-2 Dean

 

Education:

I attended Albion College for my Bachelors degree and teaching certification. After that, I received my Masters in Reading through Oakland University, my ELL certification through Western Governors University, and I am working on my Masters in Leadership through Eastern Michigan University.
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I started my career as a home school teacher for 3 years with a special needs young man. I have taught kindergarten for 3 years, fourth grade for 3 years, second grade for 1 year, I was a Reading Specialist for 9 years, an ELL teacher/Coordinator for 1 year, and Dean for 1 year.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I love the kids, families, staff, and the support of Walton and NHA.
 

Personal Information:

I have a great husband Dave, two boys Jake and Ryan, and a big dog Scout!

 

Christopher Williams Sr., Middle School Dean/Instructional Coach

 

Education:

Middle Tennessee State University B.S. Education
Jones International University Masters of Education, Education Leadership and Administration: Principal and Administrator Licensure

 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

Previous to coming to Walton I taught Marketing at Pontiac Central High School, and worked for the districts truancy department. I also taught Science and Physical Education at Roane County Christian School (Tennessee).

 

What do you like most about working here?

I love working with the students and families. I also enjoy the family atmosphere here at Walton! Other work experience: I have coached basketball at various levels for 15 years

I have been married to my wonderful wife Renee for 10 years. We have two children Christopher Jr. (4th) and Corey (3rd), who both attend Walton.
