Holland —
Sgt. Jon Cusack has been named Part-Paid Firefighter of the Year for 2011, the Holland Department of Public Safety’s fire division announced today.
Cusack’s peers nominated and selected him for the honor, according to a statement from fire Capt. Chris Tinney.
Cusack joined the department in 2006. He was promoted to a sergeant position at the Virginia Park station the following year.
Cusack assisted the fire department with radio upgrades that provided it with an administrative radio frequency. He also led efforts to equip and license the Virginia Park station fire engine as a medical first-response vehicle.
Cusack is an electrical engineer and owner of the Holland-based company Lakeshore Design LLC. He and his wife, Jaime, live in Holland with their son.
