Dress Code

All Students

  • Plain white shirts with collars or plain white collared shirts with the Taylor Exemplar logo (includes mock turtleneck, long or short sleeves, cotton or knit) and plain navy or dark blue pants, uniform style shorts, skirts, skorts, jumpers
  • Plain black or navy belts MUST be worn with trousers having belt loops.  Shirts MUST stay tucked in at all times.
  • Brown, black, navy or burgundy shoes (loafer type or casual dress).  Athletic shoes should be brought to school for use in gym.  Boots are not permitted except as outerwear.
  • Cold weather attire may include solid color sweaters or vests in navy, white, beige, tan, burgundy, rust, dark green, red or black.
  • Hats of any kind are not permitted.
  • Extreme hairstyles are not permitted.  Hair color for boys and girls must be of natural tones, and may not be professionally colored, dyed or streaked.
  • Wearing, carrying or displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs or symbols of gang membership is prohibited.

 Excellent examples of appropriate uniform clothing are the French Toast brand and Lands’ Endâ uniform clothing.  Dockersâ are acceptable uniform style pants.  Logo shirts are available through Lands’ Endâ .

The following items are NOT considered appropriate uniform clothing:

  • NO pockets of any kind or loops on the sides of the pants

  • NO pants with legs that zipper off

  • NO rivets on pants

  • NO jean or sweat pant material

  • NO sweatshirts, hoodies, Polartec jackets or ponchos (outside wear only)

  • NO Capri pants

  • NO sandals

 Boys

  • Plain navy or dark blue pants or uniform style shorts
  • Plain white or navy socks
  • Hairstyles must be conservative with hair being off the collar
  • Earrings or body piercing ornaments are not permitted

Girls

  • Plain navy or dark blue pants, uniform style shorts, skirts, skorts, jumpers; must be longer than the fingers when arms hang at the student’s side or no more than three inches above the knee.
  • Plain white or navy socks/tights
  •  A reasonable number of earrings are permitted.  Only ears may be pierced.
  • Makeup is not permitted
  • Body piercing ornaments are not permitted

 

Middle School Students (6th – 8th Grades)

  • In addition to the above guidelines, middle school students may wear plain navy, khaki or black pants, skirts, skorts, jumpers or uniform shorts
  • Plain white collared uniform shirts and/or; Chambray Blue (Baby Blue), Maize (Pastel Yellow) or black shirts with collars
