Physical Education

Grades K-2 practice balance, moving to music, skipping, hopping, and jumping. Students also learn to throw, catch and climb. They also take part in a variety of individual and group activities to learn to move safely with respect to other people. Students begin to learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Grades 3-5 begin to participate in team sports and games where the concepts of fairness, positive attitude, teamwork, and sportsmanship are learned. Students start to recognize the correlation between practice and mastery of skill. In addition, dance is examined as a form of exercise.

Grades 6-8 are refining the skills necessary for various types of physical activity. The focus for these students is on a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and fitness. Students participate in team games and also explore individual activities such as aerobics, running, and walking.

Combining fitness with fun games and activities teaches children a healthy lifestyle can be enjoyable
and rewarding.
