Two Men and a Truck and Local Schools Assist Food Banks During Michigan Harvest Gathering

This year, one in 10 Michigan residents will rely on a food bank to feed their family and nearly one in four children will be at risk for hunger. To assist local food banks in their efforts to provide critical support to families in need, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations throughout the state have partnered with local schools, such as East Arbor Charter Academy, Fortis Academy
and South Arbor Charter Academy, to collect food during the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s annual Michigan
Harvest Gathering.

Over the past two months, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and its school partners have collected thousands of canned goods and non-perishable items, delivering them to food banks across Michigan, such as Food Gatherers, just in time for the holiday season. East Arbor Charter Academy, Fortis Academy and South Arbor Charter Academy collected 4,600 pounds of food to support Michigan Harvest Gathering.

“The Food Bank Council of Michigan appreciates the support of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and the participating National Heritage Academies charter schools for the Michigan Harvest Gathering,” Bill Long, Interim Director, Food Bank Council of Michigan.  “TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and the schools stepped up to make a difference and to make a real impact on the Michigan Harvest Gathering and we are grateful for their support.”

Across Michigan, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and National Heritage Academies charter schools collected more than 14,000 of food for shelters during the Michigan Harvest Gathering food drive.
