Art

Students explore the many different aspects of art and acquire an understanding of the role art has played throughout history. Famous artists from different time periods are studied, as well as art’s role in contemporary society. A variety of original works are produced to demonstrate the student’s knowledge of art elements, tools, and materials, as well as the ability to choose the most appropriate style and medium to express and communicate images, tone, mood,
and theme.

Message from the Teacher:

I am challenging each Scholar to participate in this year’s Moral Focus Art Contest! The Scholars are to create a drawing or painting that incorporates one of the moral focus virtues that we study each month.  Below is a list of the virtues we will cover this year:

September: Wisdom

February: Courage

October: Respect

March: Encouragement

November: Gratitude

April: Compassion

December: Self Control

 May: Integrity

January: Perseverance

We will be conducting our own contest here at Riverton prior to the nationwide contest.  As a school, we will decide the 9 winning entries that will be submitted to the nationwide contest.

If your Scholar decides to take on this at home challenge, please sign the parent release form.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

A packet was sent home with further details regarding the Moral Focus Art Contest!

All submissions are due by November 21, 2011 with a signed parent release form.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
