Ridge Park fourth graders Collyn Austin, Jonathan Jernigan, Selma Pilav, Isabel Osborn, and Brenda Lopez are planting spring bulbs in the school's courtyard as part of a beautification of the school.
Ridge Park received a $500 grant from our maintenance company, Aramark, for beautification of the school. The money was in the form of a gift card to Lowe’s. Mrs. Kim Forrest's fourth grade class brainstormed ideas on how to improve the appearance of Ridge Park and decided to makeover the courtyard.
The fourth graders are hoping to make the courtyard into a beautiful area where kids can relax, read or talk quietly, or just walk and look at the flowers during recess. The children have learned to plan, budget, and compromise throughout the project. The students researched flowers and learned what grows well in Michigan.
Parents have volunteered several times throughout the project and there are plans to continue to work on the courtyard throughout the year.
Check back for updates on this project.
