Girls Basketball Team Finishes 11-2

By: Keri Lemkuil, Ridge Park's girls basketball coach
We started off the season with a wide variety of skills - some had never played before and some play year-round on AAU teams. We had to adjust and teach everyone the fundamentals and build as a team. We started off our season with a win on our home court, which really helped build the girls’ confidence.

As the season progressed, the team really worked on their weaker areas: defense and rebounding. We encountered one team in the regular season that we just couldn’t keep up with. We learned from them and prepared for our journey to the NHA season-ending tournament.

Our team ended the regular season with a record of 9-1. In the tournament, we won two games before losing in the finals to the team that handed us our lone regular season loss.

I just want to say I am very proud of the girls for ending their season with an 11-2 record, taking second in the league. I will greatly miss all the eighth graders but look forward to another winning season next year!
