Ridge Park Boys Soccer Season Recap
By Ridge Park soccer coach Matt Swacina

Page Content
The 2011 season saw many improvements for the Ridge Park boys’ soccer team.
For the first time in school history, we were able to field two teams, which show how soccer is growing in popularity.
While having many first-year players, we were able to grow and learn as the season progressed.
The “B” team got a lot of experience in their three games and showed that they are really starting to learn the game.
The “B” team is made up of 6
th
and 7
th
graders.
The “A” team finished with a deceptive regular season record of 2-7.
We had many close games, including two shootout losses.
The highpoint of the season would have been our final game, in which we lost to the eventual league champion in a game that went down to the wire.
That playoff game showed how much improvement we had made during the season.
While our record was a little disappointing, the improvement we showed in our skills and understanding is an indicator of great things to come for Ridge Park soccer.
We will miss the 8
th
graders Zach Gauthier, Dervin Figuereo, Koli Mitogo, and Dylan Shearer, who gave Ridge Park three great years. We look forward to all of the returning players and those coming into the middle school next year.
Ridge Park 8th grader Zach Gauthier fights for position in boys soccer action this past season.
