Dress Code

To enable students to reach high academic standards, we've put in place a dress code designed to reduce distractions and competitions. Implementing a simple, flexible, cost-effective dress code promotes student learning and increased academic instruction time.

 

Personal Hygiene

The personal grooming of students should be in accord with the standards set by the uniform dress code. Students should be clean and neat when at school.

Common Dress Issues

Sometimes when we're in a hurry we overlook some of the details. A few of the frequent issues include the color of socks, the type of shoes being worn, and non-approved pullovers and pants.

Our Full Dress Code

 

All Students

  • K-5 students must wear white or hunter-green colored shirts with collars and sleeves (includes mock turtlenecks, long- or short-sleeved, cotton or knit).

  • Grades 6-8 students must wear navy colored shirts. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

  • Students must wear brown, black, navy, or burgundy shoes (loafers or casual dress).

  • Athletic shoes should be brought to school for use in P.E. class. Boots are not permitted and may only be worn as outerwear.

  • Snow boots are permitted outside and must be removed when entering the classroom.

  • Shoes with wheels are not permitted; students must remove wheels before wearing such shoes to school.

  • Cold weather attire may include solid-colored sweaters or vests that are navy, white, beige, tan, burgundy, rust, or dark green.

  • Hats of any kind are not permitted.

  • White, navy, brown and black socks (or tights for girls) must be worn.

  • Leggings in black, white, navy and brown are permitted.

  • Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Hair color must be of natural tones and may not be professionally colored, dyed, or streaked. Hair should be conservative with nothing etched or cut into the hair.

  • Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership are prohibited.

  • Reach Rocket Wear is permitted on Wednesday’s.

  • Collared red shirts are permitted on Friday’s for “Support Our Troops” day.

Boys

  • K-5 boys must wear navy pants or shorts. Grades 6-8 boys must wear khaki colored pants.

  • Belts must be worn with pants or shorts that have belt loops.

  • Hairstyles must be conservative with hair being off the collar. Hairstyles that have etchings,

  • carvings or shaving designs are not permitted.

  • Earrings and other body piercing ornaments are not permitted.

Girls

  • K-5 girls must wear navy pants, skirts, skorts, or jumpers. Grades 6-8 girls must wear khaki colored bottoms. All bottoms must be either longer than the fingers when student’s arms hang at her sides or no more than three inches above the knees.

  • Plain belts must be worn with pants or any bottoms that have belt loops. Belts can be brown, black, white, navy, tan and burgundy. Spikes or cut-outs are not permitted.

  • A reasonable number of earrings are permitted.

  • Only ears may be pierced.

  • Makeup is not permitted including, but not limited to, lip gloss. Chap stick is permitted.

  • Dress boots are not permitted.
