Dress Code

To enable students to reach high academic standards, the school has put in place a dress code designed to reduce distractions and competitions. Implementing a simple, flexible, cost-effective dress code promotes student learning and increased academic instruction time. Interpretation of the Dress Code is at the principal and staff’s discretion and their decision is final.

Personal Hygiene

The personal grooming of students should be in accord with the standards set by the uniform dress code. Students should be clean and neat when at school.

All Students

Students Young 5’s Kindergarten – 5th grade must wear solid white-colored shirts that have collars (includes mock turtlenecks, long- or short-sleeved, cotton or knit).
Middle School students must wear solid white or navy shirts that have collars (include mock turtlenecks, long- or short-sleeved, cotton or knit).
All shirts worn under uniform shirts must be solid white.
Shoes must be solid black and have soles. Shoes may be loafer type, casual dress, conservative solid black boots or athletic shoes. Wheels and colored markings or soles are not permitted.
Solid-colored sweaters, sweater vests, and sweatshirts that are navy, light blue, or white are acceptable. No hoods, stripes, logos, patterns or fur are permitted. All collars of underneath shirts must be visible.
Hats of any kind are not permitted.
Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Hair color must be of natural tones and may not be colored, dyed, or streaked.
No neck jewelry (including key lanyards) or wrist jewelry is permitted other than a watch,
Belts must be solid black, brown or navy (no ornamental belt buckles).
Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership are prohibited.
Visible markings, tattoos, or writings on students are not permitted.

Boys

Uniform-style pants or shorts that are navy blue for Young 5’s Kindergarten - 5th grade, khaki for Middle School must be worn.
Belts must be worn with trousers that have belt loops. No sagging pants are permitted.
Shirts must be tucked into pants or shorts at all times.
White or navy socks must be worn.
Hairstyles must be conservative.
Body piercing ornaments are not permitted, including earrings. Any boys coming to school with piercings will be asked to remove them immediately. Band-aids will not be provided.

Girls

Uniform-style pants, Capri pants, skirts, skorts, or jumpers that are navy blue for Young 5’s Kindergarten - 5th grade, and khaki for Middle School must be worn. All bottoms must be either longer than the fingers when the student’s arms hang at her sides or no more than three inches above the knees. No ties on bottoms are permitted.
White or navy blue socks or tights must be worn. No leggings or footless tights may be worn under skirts or skorts.
One pair of earrings is permitted. Only ears may be pierced. All earrings must be no larger than one inch in diameter.
Makeup is not permitted.
Body piercing ornaments are not permitted.
No purses are permitted in the classrooms.

Dress Code for Jean Days

Blue jeans must be worn; jeans of other colors are not permitted.
Clothing must be school appropriate (no holes in jeans, no tight or clingy, no low cut tops).
Sagging pants are not permitted.
Skulls on clothing are not permitted.
Jewelry is not permitted.
Hoods are not permitted.

Clothing not addressed in this sub-section must adhere to the above dress requirements.

Special Events

For field trips, the dress code is set by the classroom teacher.
For Fall Yearbook Picture Day, students must follow the standard dress code.
For Spring Personal Picture Day, students may follow the standard dress code or wear more formal clothing (e.g., suits or dresses), per parental judgment.
