There are lots of amazing things for elementary and middle school students to do after school at Metro Charter Academy! Athletics are important to our students and fifth through eighth graders can try-out for basketball, soccer, volleyball, dance, cheer, and cross-country teams. We compete against other neighboring NHA schools in games and tournaments.
Each year, Metro offers several clubs. In the past we have had a Walking Club, Art Club, a Chess Club, and a Spanish Club. The number and type of clubs vary each year depending upon teacher and parent interest and commitment.
In 2011-2012 we have several groups available for students including National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Battle of the Books and more.
New in the '11-'12 school year is our Green Team. Students learn about and participate in environmentally friendly events and help with recycling.
Metro’s School Board funds a variety of free activities for our elementary and middle school students throughout the year. Last year, there were over 30 activities offered. Activities ranged from educational to just-for-fun. Some of the activities offered were an African drum workshop, a live reptile program, arts and crafts activities, The Flying Aces Frisbee Team, a Starlab (Detroit Science Center), a crime lab (Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum), a Native American Program and a visit from The Rock N’ Roll Canines.
