Our Story

A Foundation Built on a Parent's Perspective

It was the birth of his son that inspired National Heritage Academies' founder, J.C. Huizenga, to begin thinking about education from a parent’s perspective. A successful entrepreneur, Huizenga had a vision to provide a quality education to all children by applying basic business principles to establish a system of schools focused on accountability and results.

Founded in 1999, Linden Charter Academy is a member of National Heritage Academies. We believe in a structured academic environment. Our program not only supports state standards, but provides a unique college-bound approach that delivers the specific knowledge and skills students are expected to master in each subject area and at each grade level.

We share in your desire to develop a child’s heart as well as his or her mind. As a result, we’ve designed a unique moral focus program that works to support our parents’ efforts to instill character in their children by reinforcing and demonstrating universal virtues such as integrity, wisdom, courage, and respect.

At Linden Charter Academy, parents are an integral part of their child's elementary and middle school education. In many ways, they are as important as the teachers themselves. Our environment encourages parents to take an active role in partnership with the school.

Charter Schools are:
  • Public Schools
  • Free to the public (no tuition or fees)
  • Voluntary enrollment (makes the school accountable)
  • Managed by Educational Service Providers like NHA
  • Sponsored by state-approved institutions known as "authorizers" or "sponsors" (state boards of education, state universities, community colleges, or local school districts)
