To enable students to reach high academic standards, we've put in place a dress code designed to reduce distractions and competitions. Implementing a simple, flexible, cost-effective dress code promotes student learning and increased academic instruction time.
All Students
Clothing, makeup, hair, perfume, and jewelry must be tasteful and worn or used modestly
Clothing should fit appropriately and should not be too tight or baggy
Pants must be in good condition, without holes or patches. Pants may not have designs, artwork or writing other than a small brand logo displayed on them.
No pajama pants, track pants, sweatpants, spandex material, or running pants are allowed.
Pants must sit at the waistline. Students will be sent home if pants sag below the waistline.
Shirts, sweaters, and t-shirts may have consistent patterns, but they may not display any wording, numbering, pictures, or logos that are larger than two inches by two inches. As an exception, Knapp Wear items are allowed, except for hooded sweatshirts.
Shirt sleeves must be long enough to completely cover students’ shoulders.
Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in and to remain tucked in when the student lifts his/her arms.
Hooded sweatshirts are not allowed to be worn during instructional time, but are permitted to be worn as a jacket for recess during arrival and dismissal.
Students may not wear baseball hats, do-rags, or bandanas at any time on school property.
Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Extreme hairstyles include, but are not limited to, Mohawks. Colored, dyed, or highlighted hair must be of natural tones.
Wearing, carrying, and displaying gang paraphernalia, names, signs, or symbols of gang membership are not permitted.
Boys
No tank tops or muscle shirts allowed.
Shorts must be no shorter than five inches above the knees.
Body piercing ornaments and any distracting jewelry such as chains or collars are not permitted.
Girls
No spaghetti strap shirts, halter tops, tank tops, or muscle shirts are allowed. Sleeves must completely cover student’s shoulders.
Shorts, skorts, and skirts must be no shorter than five inches above the knee. Skirts worn with leggings must still meet length requirements.
Leggings must be worn with an appropriate length skirt or short and will not be permitted to be worn alone.
Makeup must be in good taste. A student wearing makeup in a way that draws attention or distracts others will be asked to wash it off.
Any distracting or potentially dangerous jewelry is not permitted.
Staff members and the administration will determine if clothing is appropriate and follows guidelines. Parents will be contacted when a student is dressed inappropriately. Appropriate clothing must be brought to school, or the student will be sent home.
