Rudy Swofford, Principal 

 

Education: 

Bachelors in Education Bible and Christian Education from Columbia International University.
Masters in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.


Previous experience and number of years in the field:

6 years in full time youth ministry. Served as a 4th grade teacher at GA for the first three years of the schools opening. Spent 1 ½ years as the assistant principal and spent the last 9 years as the principal at GA.

 

What do you like most about working here?

The family atmosphere we have created that supports our entire school. We look after our student’s as if they were our own children. We work together to help each other grow as teachers, students, and families.

 

Personal Information:

I have four children one in college and one going to college in the fall. The other two are students at a local high school. I’m a movie buff and love to swing my golf clubs even if I do so very ineffectively.

 

Tara Chandler, 2-5 Dean

    

Education:

I attended Westminster College in PA for my undergraduate degree which was a BA in Elementary Education. I received a Master’s of Ed. from Elon University in 2006.
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught in Eden, NC for 5 years teaching 4th/5th grade prior to coming to Greensboro Academy. I taught 5th grade at GA for 4 years. I served as Instructional Coach for 2 years at GA prior to becoming dean. This is my second year in this role.
 

What do you like most about working here?

I absolutely love my colleagues and their passion for what they do. They are by far the best educators I have met.
 

Personal Information:

I have a wonderful husband named Jeff and 2 beautiful twin daughters named Sophia and Evelyn who will be turning 5 years old this year and a baby son named Andrew. We love to read, camp, and just enjoy each other’s company.
 

 

Stacey Collins, Middle School Dean


Education:

I completed my undergraduate work in 2000 at High Point University, graduating with a BA in Education (Middle School – concentrations:  Mathematics and Science). In 2006, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction (Middle School Math).
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field: 

After serving for eight years as a Mathematics teacher at Greensboro Academy, I became an administrator.  This is my fourth year in administration.

   

What do you like most about working here? 

I love working with the staff, students, and parents at Greensboro Academy! Our staff is passionate about education and desire to see each student challenged academically. Through our Moral Focus program, character education is modeled and expected by our students. Our students are up for those challenges and work diligently in order to demonstrate success. Education is a priority for our parent body, and many are very involved throughout several aspects of the school. Our school is a family atmosphere, and I am thankful daily for the opportunity to be a part of this family!

My husband and I are the proud parents of a son named Bryson.    
 
 

Becky Schramm, K-2 Dean
 

Education:

I graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC with a BA in Elementary Education and Birth through Kindergarten Foundations.   I received a Master's of School Administration from Western Carolina University in 2012.
 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught in Nassau, Bahamas for 2 years after graduating with my BA.  While in the Bahamas, I taught pre-kindergarten and kindergarten.  In 2000 I moved to Greensboro, NC and began teaching 2nd grade at Greensboro Academy.   I taught 2nd grade for 12 years and moved to 3rd grade prior to my role as dean.
 

What do you like most about working here?

13 years at Greensboro Academy has allowed me to create special relationships with staff, families and students.   The staff at Greensboro Academy has inspired me to become a better educator and leader.  
 

Personal Information:

I have been married to Terry for 10 years and we have 1 daughter named Sadie.   Sadie is in kindergarten at Greensboro Academy.   Terry, Sadie and I love to go to the beach and the mountains.
