Submitted Application

Lottery

The lottery is a random selection drawing to determine who will be accepted and who will be placed on a waiting list. Parents may attend, but will be notified by mail of the lottery results.

  • Preference is given to siblings of enrolled students.
  • In CO, NY, OH, and Gary, IN, preference is given to students who reside within the district in which the school is located.
  • In Atlanta, GA, students must reside within the Atlanta Public School District to apply to the school.
  • In Baton Rouge, LA, students must reside within the East Baton Rouge School District to apply to
    the school.
  • In Milwaukee, WI, students must reside within the Milwaukee Public School District to apply to
    the school.
  • At Landmark Academy in Commerce City, CO, preference is also given to previously enrolled students whose parent or guardian currently serves or served in the US Military who was transferred out of the area. Military ID is required.

Applications received after open enrollment are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for any remaining openings or placed on a waiting list.

 

If your child is on a Waiting List

You will be notified of acceptance by mail or phone if an opening becomes available for your child.

  • Schools in GA, LA, MI, Indianapolis, IN, and WI - if a student is placed on a waiting list, the student may move down if the student does not have sibling preference.
  • Schools in CO, NY, OH, and Gary, IN - if a student is placed on a waiting list, the student may move down if the student does not have sibling preference or a student with district preference applies
    after you.

If your child is Accepted

If accepted, you will receive an acceptance package. Parents must submit to the school all of the following items by the date specified in the letter: Official Release of Records Form, Admissions Form, original Birth Certificate, and most recent Immunization Records.

 

In addition, schools in CO, GA, LA, NY, OH, Gary, IN, and WI must submit to the school Proof of Residency Forms (see list of accepted Proof of Residency in Enrollment Guidelines in Acceptance Package or Waiting List letter).

 

If these are not received by that date, your child may be removed from the school's accepted list.

 

Important Notes

  • Your child must be in attendance on the first day of school. Please read our Enrollment Guidelines for details (it is included with acceptance and waiting list letters).
  • Please tell the school if you do not intend to send your child to the school.
  • It is your responsibility to notify the school of address and/or phone number changes. If we are unable to reach you because of wrong address or phone – your child’s name may be removed from our list.
  • Each application is valid for one school year only. Students once enrolled do not need to apply for future years.
  • Students may apply to only one grade per academic year.
  • The school will not accept any application for any student who is not a resident of this state, except a foreign exchange student.

Schools managed by National Heritage Academies are public school academies. National Heritage Academies admits students of any gender, race, color, religion, disability, and national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, disability or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, athletic and other school-administered programs.

 

Special Education programs and services at NHA schools are offered. NHA Schools provide a program and service model on its campus that best addresses the needs of students who are able to spend the majority of their time in the general education classroom with support from special education service providers. Students are provided with support by special education teachers both in general and special education classrooms. In addition, speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other related services are provided to students with special education needs on the school campus.
