Joe Hammond, Principal

Education:  

Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Valley State University.

 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

Prior to his appointment at Foundations, Mr. Hammond most recently served as principal in residence at Landmark Academy in Commerce City. Prior to his move to Colorado, Mr. Hammond served as assistant principal at Eagle Crest Academy in Holland, Michigan and as an educator in Australia.

 

What do you like most about work here?

Mr. Hammond’s aim is to establish Foundations Academy as a school known for academic excellence — a school that parents can have confidence in, where students can thrive and one that will be a source of community pride.

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I have been in education for the past 16 years and I continue to learn with each year in the field.

 

What do you like most about work here?

I enjoy the opportunity to help the teachers.

 

Personal Information:  

Married 13 years with 2 sons.

 

Shayla Brubaker- Dean 3-5

Ohio University, BA in Education, Western State College of Colorado, MA in Educational Leadership

 

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I was a 3rd grade teachers at various schools for 5 years.

 

What do you like most about work here?

We hold all our employees and students to high personal and professional/academic standards

 

Personal Information:

Married for 3 years, one daughter and a yellow lab.   
 
 

Kristi Helton, Middle School Dean

Education:

Bachelor of Arts from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI
Major: Elementary Education
Minors: Language Arts and Health Education

Previous education experience and number of years in the field:

I taught 6th grade at Eagle Crest, an NHA school in Holland, Michigan for the past four years, before moving to Brighton, Colorado where I taught 5th grade for this opening school year.

What do you like most about work here?

I appreciate being a part of a supportive “family” that is dedicated and passionate about growing the whole child. The focus on serving others is what I value the most about Foundations; it is a privilege being a part of such a community.

Personal Information:

My husband, Erik, and I grew up in Michigan, but were excited about the opportunity in Colorado and moved here just before the opening of Foundations. I enjoy traveling, spending time outside, and having the opportunity to try something new.
