The people I work with each day are incredibly dedicated to children and to the mission of our school. No two days are ever the same-the children enrich our lives on a daily basis and remind us of what is really important in life.
I have been married for 15 years and have one 13 year old daughter. She has attended Forsyth Academy since Kindergarten. When I have free time I love to read, paint and enjoy running.
I love the people I work with and the students we serve. I have never worked with a more dedicated and caring team of professionals. This carries over to the students, which means that the students are dedicated and focused. It is a great place to spend my days!
Throughout college, I helped my aunt open and run a small country store. This was a great experience because I was able to work with a lot of children that came into the store to buy candy, in addition to teaching my cousins how to operate the cash register and run the store. This solidified my intentions of working with kids for my career.
My whole family is in the education field. My husband, Jason, is a high school social studies teacher in Davidson County. My sons, Dylan and Xavier, are now attending Forsyth Academy and love it! I am now able to see Forsyth Academy through the eyes of a parent and can honestly say there is not a better place that could provide them all the aspects of education that Forsyth Academy does.
I spent four years as a fourth grade teacher at Forsyth Academy. In the fall of 2008, I began a new position working as a New Teacher Coach, which entailed mentoring and supporting teachers new to the profession and to NHA. This past year, I have had the opportunity to serve as the 3-5 Dean, with an amazing group of Forsyth Academy professionals.
I began my journey with NHA in 2001, when my daughter started kindergarten. I quickly realized that the level of commitment to challenge all children to achieve was and is unparalleled at NHA. This inspired me to seek employment to Forsyth Academy. I love that there is a genuine desire to develop and foster professional growth, both within teacher and leadership rank.
I served as a teacher-leader in 2008-2009, helping to induct all new fourth grade teachers to NHA.
Obtained K-12 Music Education degree from Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem NC. Completed state certification through Greensboro College, Greensboro, NC. Currently completing Masters in Educational Leadership through Gardner-Webb University.
Began my teaching career at Greensboro Academy then transferred to Forsyth Academy. I have been in education for 13 years, all with NHA.
NHA Teacher Leader for 5 years.
