BELMONT, Mich. (WZZM)- The teachers at Chandler Woods Charter Academy are trying to spice up 18th Century history for their students.
This year, eighth grade students dressed like the most important political figures of that time, including Ben Franklin, George Washington and other founding fathers. Friday, the students celebrated the end of their studies on the Revolutionary War with a patriot party.
"It was getting dull. They were reading information out of their textbooks. I wanted to get them up and out and practicing what they learned so that they can experience it and know what it was like during that time period," explained teacher Dina Weirich.
While dressed as the founding fathers, the students enjoyed tea and crumpets. The student choir also sang a Revolutionary War song.
