Chandler Woods Students Construct Mini Roller Coasters

Christopher Morse
The sixth grade students at Chandler Woods Charter Academy in Belmont are studying kinetic energy.  Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, so students have designed and constructed mini roller coasters to gain hands-on experience with the conversion of potential energy into kinetic energy.  Students have also learned where maximum potential and maximum kinetic energy is found on the roller coaster—what a fun way to assess their understanding of this science unit!
