Set high-standards, make expectations clear, provide meaningful instruction, and watch children excel academically. At Milwaukee Scholars Charter School every student would be given the tools for success, in and out of the classroom. With a commitment to work, good citizenship, and personal responsibility students would experience a safe, secure environment where learning and achievement can thrive.

A quality K-8 education sets the critical foundation for a student’s success in high school, college, and beyond. Achievement may look different for each individual, but our goal is to prepare every student to pursue a college opportunity. It is with this goal in mind that Milwaukee Scholars Charter School’s curriculum would be designed to meet state standards and equip students with the specific skills and knowledge they need to master in each content area at each grade level.

We believe that great schools should aim to develop both a student’s heart and mind. To that end, we would implement a moral focus curriculum that builds on the virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude, while incorporating these virtues into moral, performance, and social character lessons. Through these lessons, students learn to build and maintain strong personal character while developing the qualities necessary to help them to achieve academic success and become good citizens.

Research shows that the more parents are involved in their child’s education, the more likely the child is to be successful. Milwaukee Scholars Charter School commitment would be to foster strong partnerships with parents as a critical part of a child-centered focus. We have found that  parents value being treated as partners, and understand the important role they play in ensuring their child’s academic success. We firmly believe our efforts to engage parents as partners reap big rewards in terms of higher levels of student achievement.
