At Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy our credo will be simple: Set high-standards, make expectations clear, provide meaningful instruction, and watch children excel academically. At Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy every student will be given the tools for success, in and out of the classroom. With a commitment to work, good citizenship, and personal responsibility students experience a safe, secure environment where learning and achievement will thrive.
A quality K-8 education sets the critical foundation for a student’s success in high school, college, and beyond. Achievement may look different for each individual, but our goal will be to prepare every student to pursue a college opportunity. It is with this goal in mind that Regent Park’s curriculum will be designed to meet state standards and equip students with the specific skills and knowledge they need to master in each content area at each grade level.
Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy believes that great schools should aim to develop both a student’s heart and mind. To that end, we will implement a moral focus curriculum that will build on the virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude, while incorporating these virtues into moral, performance, and social character lessons. Through these lessons, students will learn to build and maintain strong personal character while developing the qualities necessary to help them to achieve academic success and become good citizens.
Research shows that the more parents are involved in their child’s education, the more likely the child is to be successful. Regent Park’s commitment to foster strong partnerships with parents will be a critical part of our child-centered focus. We have found that our parents value being treated as partners, and understand the important role they play in ensuring their child’s academic success. We firmly believe our efforts to engage parents as partners will reap big rewards in terms of higher levels of student achievement.
From day one, Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy’s students will be taught that putting forth their best effort is vital to their academic success. Our teachers will strive to consistently reinforce with students the importance of individual responsibility for their education and personal accountability for their actions. Children will thrive in an environment where they clearly understand what is expected of them and that they take pride in seeing the results that come from putting forth their best effort.
